About Jason Cole

As a photographer and an artist I look at the world in a slightly different way to most ordinary folk. I see the shot in the scene, beauty in the simplest things, the passion and the love of two people committing themselves to each other for life. To do this work is to be truly blessed and I look forward to every day and every new experience my work, my art, and my passion brings me.

My interest in photography first started in my teenage years. I always loved the idea of taking a great shot, and capturing a moment in time forever. As my career evolved I went down the I.T. / Engineering path and became a successful engineer, working in the R&D telecommunications industry. For a time there I was content. Well I wasn’t really content but I had fooled myself into thinking I was content. Life was good and things seemed to be moving along well. There was always something eating at me though. I loved taking photos. It was my thing and that’s where I was happiest. Taking photos made the passion run through my veins. It is an addiction, almost a rush.

So over the next few years I worked two jobs, doing engineering which I steadily grew to hate. I used to spend all my spare time at work on photography forums and learning my art. I also worked a second job doing free photos for potential models. I gained a lot of experience doing this and even had a fairly good portfolio at the time.  Nothing by today's standards but at the time I was very happy with it and the portfolio earned me paid gigs which meant more camera gear. Another avenue I spent a lot of time shooting was local theatre. This proved to be such a huge bonus in my Wedding photography in later years. Very few photographers can shoot low light photos like we can. This ability came from photographing seventeen play seasons at the Arcadians miners lamp theatre in Corrimal. I developed a wealth of knowledge during this five year period.

Finally the day came, back in 2004 when I changed careers. I had given myself one year to either make a career or go back to finding another engineering job. I had a mortgage and commitments at home and I had to be successful. The previous two years I had photographed several Weddings and really enjoyed it. My magazine career was starting to gain traction with several big contracts including FHM Magazine, FUEL Magazine and 2DMAX Magazine just to name a few.

Over the next year I took a really good hard look at the Wedding industry. I looked at what was being photographed, the creativity of the photos and realized that I had a niche product I could offer the market. The portable studio lighting systems we used with the model shoots. This proved to be a huge success in the Wedding world and literally turned the quality notch up to high! People couldn’t believe the colour and the clarity of our work, and our business went crazy.

Since then business has steadily grown. Even through the hard times and the recessions, our business has continued to prosper. We run our business based on great customer service and listening to what our customers want. We have grown from one staff member to seven staff members. There are plans for a shop and a studio soon too.

Thank you again for taking the time to read our story and supporting our business. We hope to be of assistance to you in the near future.

Sincerely,
Jason Cole
